Micro-Wedding in Brandon or Riverview — A Planning Guide
A practical guide for couples planning a small wedding in Brandon or Riverview, covering venues, the marriage license, ceremony format, and realistic costs.
Custom-written ceremonies from $500 for couples in Valrico, Bloomingdale, and eastern Hillsborough County. Based in Plant City, 12 miles east on I-4.
Valrico is an unincorporated community in eastern Hillsborough County, roughly 12 miles west of Plant City and about 15 miles east of downtown Tampa. It sits south of I-4 along the SR-60 and SR-574 corridors, bordered by Brandon to the west and the Bloomingdale neighborhood to the south. FishHawk Ranch and Lithia are a short drive farther southeast.
From Plant City, the drive to most Valrico locations takes about 20 minutes. I make this drive regularly. The route is straightforward whether you take SR-60 through Brandon or cut south on SR-574. Dovetail Edition includes travel to Valrico in every ceremony package — there is no additional travel fee.
Valrico is in Hillsborough County. Your marriage license is handled through the Hillsborough County Clerk of Court. Both partners must appear together with valid ID. The license fee is approximately $86, or $61 if you complete an approved premarital preparation course. The course also waives the three-day waiting period that otherwise applies to Florida residents.
For a full walkthrough of fees, ID requirements, satellite office locations, and the premarital course option, see our Hillsborough County marriage license guide. Dovetail Edition offers a Florida Premarital Course for $49, completed online. It satisfies the state requirement and is accepted by every county clerk in Florida.
Valrico is a residential community, and most of the ceremonies I perform here take place at private homes. That is not a limitation — it is often the best option. No venue fee, no vendor restrictions, no time constraints. You set the schedule, you control the guest list, and the ceremony happens in a space that already means something to you.
Beyond private homes, a few options worth knowing about in and around Valrico:
For couples who want a more designed ceremony environment — ceremony arches, furniture, backdrop elements — our ceremony environment design service is available as an add-on in any of these locations.
Every Dovetail Edition ceremony is written from scratch. There is no generic script. The process starts with a planning conversation where I learn about you as a couple — how you met, what matters to you, the tone you want, any elements you want included or excluded. From there, I write a ceremony draft. You review it, give feedback, and we refine it until it sounds right.
On the day, I arrive early, handle any coordination with photographers or family, deliver the ceremony, and manage the legal paperwork. The marriage license is signed on-site and returned to the county clerk on your behalf. Typical ceremony length runs 8 to 15 minutes for elopements and 15 to 25 minutes for microweddings and larger ceremonies.
Dovetail Edition offers three ceremony tiers, all available to couples in Valrico:
Full details on what each tier includes are on the packages page. Travel to Valrico is included in all tiers.
If you are planning a wedding in Valrico and want a ceremony that is actually written for you, visit the Valrico wedding officiant page for details on the service area, or start an inquiry. The form takes two minutes. A response lands within one business day.
